What are your earliest memories of Kingston?
Going to the market with my mother and, at times, my grandmother.
What is the most memorable meal you've enjoyed in Kingston?
I visited a friend one Sunday in Trench Town, near suppertime, and I was getting hungry. He mentioned a cook shop around the corner that has really good food, so we went there and to my surprise, it was better than expected. I paid $150.00 for a plate of steamed white rice and stewed peas, and $50.00 for a bottle of carrot juice, which was absolutely delicious. What really made it memorable was to see how the community came out, some with their various food containers, bottles and cups to purchase drinks and Sunday supper.
What would you do if you were mayor of Kingston for a day?
I have grown to love Kingston's sadly decaying old buildings so I would clean up the streets and then start a movement of refurbishment and restoration.
What would be your recommendations to a first-time visitor to Kingston?
Nightlife in Kingston is great! I'd recommend that they see a play, then head to Kingston Dub Club in Jack's Hill or Dubwise Wednesday at Tiki Hut. Eating out is a must! The latest spot for culinary exploits are 689 by Brian Lumley; Tracks & Records at the Marketplace; as well as the various community cook shops across the island, to enjoy some real Jamaican home-style cuisine.
Share the title of the last book you read.
The Poetical Works of Marcus Garvey, authored by the Jamaican national hero and edited by Tony Martin.
What was the last bit of music you listened to that you enjoyed?
Traditional Japanese music forms.
What cologne are you spritzing?
Lacoste Pour Homme.
When did the thespian bug bite?
I'm not sure at exactly what age I was bitten, but when I was younger I was always acting in church and school plays. I got really good feedback from the audience and my teachers, who told me that I was very good at it, and so made the effort to improve my skills. I was motivated by their encouragement.
Are there any limits to where you want to go as an actor?
I would like to venture into all aspects of acting: television and radio shows, feature films and theatrical plays. I want to be a versatile actor who can excel on all platforms.
If you could be reincarnated on the spot, which famous cinematic icon would you want to come back as and why?
Johnny Depp. He is one of the most versatile actors of this day and age. His ability to completely immerse himself in a role and transform in such a way as to fully embody the character is simply amazing.
There have been rumours that British actor Idris Elba will fill James Bond's well-heeled leather lace-ups when Daniel Craig eventually exits the iconic role. Are we ready for a race-blind 007?
Absolutely. I think the world is ready for a black James Bond. I admire Idris Elba as an actor and think he would do a great job.
Share some places in your travel black book.
My favourite place in Jamaica is White River Valley, Ocho Rios. I'm there almost every weekend. Off the island, Trinidad & Tobago and my favourite island, St Lucia.
What do you consider your best and worst traits?
My best: I'm a very patient person. My worst: I'm a bit stubborn and daring. I really like my own way and alone time to figure things out, which at times can be dangerous.
What was your last major splurge?
Shopping for household items: I've spent quite a lot on window treatments.
What is your philosophy?
I live by a few that I've come across in my years of reading. One is from Don Miguel Ruiz's The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom, 'Life is hard, and once you've accepted that, life will be easier'. Another is attributed to Buddha: 'Don't worry over things you have no control over'. And the one closest to my heart, from Shakespeare: 'Be just and fear not'.
