It is open for dinner and offers elegant dining in a comfortable atmosphere and a menu worth travelling miles to savour.

Lately, the Casanova Restaurant at Couples Sans Souci has been catering to an increasing number of Jamaicans who are looking for the best in food and ambience. "Casanova is a Caribbean fusion restaurant which caters not only to guests that come here at Sans Souci, but to guests from outside who may wish to come here and eat," explained senior sous chef Dwight Morris.
"What we have done with the menu is to include a lot of local ingredients to create international dishes to really bring out the best in us as chefs and showcase our talent," he adds.
Casanova is just one of several restaurants at Sans Souci which, under the guidance of head chef Maurice Lewis, provides delectable meals daily.
Located just within the lobby area at the hotel, you can indulge in almost any cuisine you desire at Casanova.
"On the menu, we have ackee and vegetable fritters which is traditionally Jamaican, but we add a little flavour in terms of the rundown sauce that we have. We add Italian crème de menthe just to spice it up a bit. If you want something from Italy, we have our lamb which we crust with Jamaican roasted plantain. It's just a mixture of every culture, every nation, that's what we have on this one menu."
Morris is assisted by a great support team made up of Cecil DaCosta, Rolando Bambury, Omar Stewart and Marvin Marsh.
"They are the guys who put it out there every day to ensure that whatever is on the menu is done to perfection. I'm just the guy who supervises them and comes up with these ideas; those are the guys who should be credited with the wonderful work that we do here," Morris said.
Reservations can be made to dine at 6:30 p.m. or 9 p.m. dinner. Or a night pass could get you there.
By the way, Trevor Butler on piano is a superb accompaniment to dinner.

Senior Sous Chef Dwight Morris'   recommendation for your first visit:
Appetiser: "I would definitely recommend the shrimp and salmon   kebab on (lime) risotto; it is perfecto, excellent!"
Soup: "We have two classic soups, tomato and crab soup,   spinach and artichoke; both soups are excellent."
Entrée: "For me personally, I love the lamb but I would say 'try anything' - from the catch of the day, we use a different fish each and every day, we have salmon, snapper, sea bass, trout. Explore, try whatever is there.
Dessert: Try everything!

Tropical Sun Ackee, 280 g

It begins the moment you arrive at this timeless Jamaica hotel. Guests sense a warm, familiar feeling that only grows as you stroll the beautifully manicured grounds to your antique-appointed bedroom.
Since 1950, Jamaica Inn has consistently ranked among the top luxury hotels in Jamaica and the Caribbean. Located in Ocho Rios on one of the premier private beaches in Jamaica, the hotel features just 52 suites and cottages, each with a view of the Caribbean Sea. Apart from the tastefully English-furnished setting, the hotel boasts a food menu that offers a wide array of delectable eats. Last Sunday, the Food team left the shouting world behind and was embraced by one that whispers, as Jamaica Inn has restarted its monthly Sunday Brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
On Sunday last, guests were treated to a spectacular buffet feast while listening to live music, courtesy of musician Dalton Hickling. The brunch menu includes A special Drappier Kir Royale welcome cocktail, an extensive display of hot and cold delicacies from around the world, a carving station, including exquisitely jerked leg of lamb and roast turkey, an omelette and waffle station, local dishes such as ackee and salt fish, roast breadfruit and a selection of salads.
An assortment of mouth-watering desserts were also available. At the cost of only US$60 per person, inclusive of tax and service charge, persons can plan ahead for the next brunch on Sunday, October 6.

Many food lovers had their fantasies fulfilled at the sixth staging of Rib, Rum and Roast held in Liguanea last Friday night. The food-centric and alcohol-infused event, scheduled to commence at 7 p.m., saw many quickly reserving their seats and making their way to the respective tents in an early fashion to partake of the numerous foodie offerings that were available.
Meat lovers visited the tent of Jojo's Jerk Pit for their taste of authentically Jamaican jerked chicken, barbecued chicken, jerked pork and jerked ribs, served with mashed potatoes. Sweetwood Jerk Joint offered jerked pork and Chinese jerked ribs, served with an option of either peppered or sweet sauce. Alhambra Inn Grill and Chill added a touch of sophistication to their food station, showcasing a display of four of their popular dishes while supplying guests with premium burgers.
The Wealth Grillers were not to be left out as the team prepared jerked ribs, jerked pork and jerked chicken, all rich in flavour, served with lobster pasta and many other side dishes.
Patrons, who had a wide array of dishes to choose from, took great pleasure in returning for seconds and thirds, and perhaps losing count after much alcohol.
Vegetarians had the option of indulging in roasted fish with callaloo from Bickles & Beverage. And the oysters from Juicey, the oyster man, were also a huge hit with the crowd.
Desserts, specifically cupcakes, ice creams and milkshakes, surely satisfied the sweet tooth of all in attendance.
Krizzle Kakes rewarded guests with a treat of red velvet, vanilla with cream cheese strawberry preserves stuffing, and mango cupcakes, as well as tropical paradise -- a cupcake consisting of pineapple, coconut and white rum.
Leanne's Sweet Tooth kept within the event's theme, having a cake display in the form of a grill as well as strawberry lemonade, mango cheesecake bites and macaroons, which were also among the sweet variety.
Ice-cream lovers made their way to Kremi ice cream who lured them with popular flavours such as coffee rum cream, strawberry cookie, chocolate vanilla, vanilla, cookies and cream, orange pine, rum and raisin, pistachio cherry, chocolate, stout, and cherry chocolate chip. Everyone received ice cream soda floats made with their favourite flavours of both soda and ice cream, courtesy of the organisers of the event.
All in all, Rib, Roast and Rum was definitely the complete foodie's package.
