On Monday night, the curtains came down on this year's staging of the annual Actor Boy Awards (ABA).
Held at the Talk of the Town ballroom at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel, the awards ceremony was nothing short of a spectacular showing of Jamaican talent matched only by the quality of the show's production.
With the hard work already done and the 2013 theatre year behind them, elegantly dressed actors and actresses waited patiently for the official start of the ceremony, many openly displaying nerves.
At approximately 8 p.m., hosts Sakina Deer and Kanhai Condison made their way to the DMar Decor-designed stage.
Deer, styled by local designer, Kaysian Bourke, also known as Flowerchild, was the picture of grace as she stood alongside her Jollywood co-host, looking very sharp himself.
Attempting to re-enact the dance performed by dancers from the L'Acadco Dance Group, the two opened the night's proceedings on a high and the crowd thoroughly enjoyed their amateur performance of the Paula Shaw-choreographed routine.
With more than 20 category winners to announce, the hosts got things going almost immediately, starting with the announcement of the winners for the technical awards.
Triple-nominated lighting designer, Nadia Roxburgh, walked away with the prestigious ABA for Best Lighting Design for the play, Departure in the Dark.
The sole nominee and winner by default, Pierre LeMaire accepted the award for Best Special Effects for his work in The Cinderella Chronicles.
Kieran King for Best Set Design and Natasha Griffiths for Best Costume Design, were also winners.
Children's play Anancy Chaptaz copped the most awards on the night. The cast walked away with a total of five awards including Best Original Song, Best Choreography, Best Musical and Best Children's Theatre, edging out their competition which included multi-nominated play, Ladies of the Night.
Jambiz International's If There's A Will, There's A Wife and Brian Heap's Departure in the Dark followed with four nods each.
Despite being nominated in all of 11 categories, Ladies of the Night only walked away with the award for Best Production.
Nevertheless, the cast was overwhelmed as the award was dubbed by many as the night's biggest and most sought after.
Part proceeds from this year's ABAs will be donated to the MultiCare Foundation's Performing Arts Programme.
The programme is a non-profit, private, voluntary organisation committed to youth and community development, established in April, 1993.
