Elsewhere Festival 2014 In Hackney Announce Full Line-up

ELSEWHERE festival is delighted to announce this years full lineup...

New additions include Leon Vynehall, Karma Kid, Mumdance, GetMe!, Andy Blake, Chainless Dorsia, Standard Place Livin Proof and many more. This brand new two-dayer launches on May 2nd - 3rd in Hackney, London.

Created by the team at dollop, ELSEWHERE 2014 is a new multi-venue festival taking place across various Hackney spaces on May 2nd - 3rd. Boasting a carefully curated line-up of celebrated acts and DJs from the cutting edge of contemporary electronic music, ELSEWHERE 2014 is the sister event of Nottingham's EVERYWHERE festival, which launched with a sell-out success last year.

In additional to the much-fêted and varied cast of artists, ELSEWHERE keeps in line with dollop's track record, combines top-line production with a variety of fully dressed immersive spaces including warehouses, nightclubs, venues & some more unusual locations soon to be announced. Venues confirmed so far include The Laundry, Oslo and London Fields Brewery with many more to come.

Over the past decade in operation, dollop have earned a reputation of consistently delivering forward-thinking underground music across multiple platforms: sell-out clubnights in a host UK cities; summer-long, multi-event series; one-off parties and festival partnerships home and abroad. To mark their 10th anniversary, a bold new undertaking emerges: they launch their new festival venture ELSEWHERE at various venues in Hackney this summer.

ARTIST INFO:
This just in: a new clutch of names have been announced! Riding high on a surge of acclaim for new double-EP Music For The Uninvited and a genre-busting Fact Mix alike, mysterious maestro Leon Vynehall will be bringing his record bag down to ELSEWHERE to showcase his anything-goes, all-vinyl sets. Another fresh face - literally - arrives in the shape of 19-year old Karma Kid, whose decidedly modern takes on feel-good house have flooded dancefloors the country over across the past 18 months.

Another equally notable trend as of late has been the renewed creativity within instrumental grime music, a genre whose sound is inseparable from its London origin - two new additions represent flip sides of the same coin: sticky-sweet melodies courtesy of local lad Mumdance; tension and intensity from shadowy newcomer Chainless. In amongst the multitude of new artists, we bring resident DJs on deck from some of London's most popular and durable clubnights: GetMe!, Standard Place, Livin Proof and many more will muck in on the fun at the first ELSEWHERE festival. Check the bill for the full rundown of 2nd wave additions.

This is all in addition to the first run of announced acts; collectively they emphasise dollop's proud commitment to showcasing a hearty mix of legends and ascendant breakthrough artists. Heading up the bill is The Streets/D.O.T. frontman Mike Skinner, man behind era-defining classics like Original Pirate Material and A Grand Don't Come For Free, one of the most charismatic stars of the 2000s, and an excellent UK Garage DJ in his own right. A man of similar pedigree is producer veteran Marcellus Pittman, an active touring member of mythical DJ tag-team Three Chairs, who marries the beatdown techno of his native Detroit with soulful house and disco to ecstatic effect. London-bred Floating Points has been heralded by everyone from Three Chairs kingpin Theo Parrish to the likes of Gilles Peterson and Four Tet as the natural heir to that throne, a flawless dancefloor selector and creator of some of the most innovative, boundary less music of recent years.

Similarly enigmatic figure Actress has captivated the underground since emerging from the shadows in 2008 with a dark, lustrous sound that at once evokes the finest of British experimentalism (think Burial and Aphex Twin) with dirt-funky club wares out of the American Midwest. Berlin-residing Doc Daneeka has drawn no small praise for welding together the grit of techno and 2-step with house music's skippy bounce; last year's anthemic "Walk On In" frequented many Tracks of the Year lists. CUT 4 ME, the stunning debut mixtape by LA-based singer Kelela, resulted in a flood of similarly breathless accolades: her blend of futuristic r'n'b and transatlantic-sourced club instrumentals marked her as one of 2013's true new stars, as noted by every music site worth their salt, as well as publications as lofty as The New York Times and the BBC, who placed her on their Sound of 2014 list.

Another act down to play live are rapidly rising, mysterious Camden duo Snakehips, who will bring their pastel-hued, dancefloor-ready take on breathy neo-soul to ELSEWHERE this year. Scouted, signed and mentored by bona-fide megastars Disclosure, new Kitsuné face Lxury is also a serious one-to-watch for 2014 - his skyscraping, chest-swelling, no-holds-barred take on club music is likely to result in an imminent chart breakthrough. Just as colourful in approach and omnivorous in taste, Ryan Hemsworth is the poster-boy for a very modern type of 'everything all at once' sound: hard to pin down but extremely enjoyable and eminently danceable; a fitting summary for ELSEWHERE's line-up as a whole.
