DANCEHALL music was not a big seller internationally in 2013, but there were songs that created waves locally and in regional markets overseas. Here are 10 of them:
(1) One Drop QQ

After taking a break from music to focus on academics, QQ returned with this dance banger. Within weeks of its release, the single topped local charts.
(2) Smile Jamaica Chronixx

The singer's biggest hit to date was produced by German duo Silly Walks Discotheque. Smile Jamaica climbed to number one on BBC Radio 1's Xtra Charts.
(3) Call Angola Jah Bouks

The roots singer found his calling with this one drop smash. Its message of black pride hit home with fans and became an anthem.
(4) Fight That Feeling Shaggy/Beres Hammond

Taken from Shaggy's album Out of Many, One Music, the Grammy-winning deejay and lovers rock king Beres Hammond went old school on this number.
(5) Vybz Kartel School

Showed another side of the controversial deejay who urges youngsters not to bleach their skin, a habit Kartel helped popularise.
(6) Macka Diamond Dye Dye

Not many fans know the meaning of the term 'Dye Dye' but 'Macka' had the ladies gyrating to her latest hit.
(7) Bugle Non Compatible

Bugle still enjoys solid rotation with this infectious and provocative track, released early this year.
(Cool Popcaan Unruly Rave

Last year, the deejay rode the charts with Summer Wave (When Mi Party). He delivered another summer hit in Unruly Rave in which he boasts about his "flossing" habits.
(9) Major Lazer/Busy Signal Watch Out fi Dis

Certified platinum by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry in Denmark for sales of 20,000 downloads.
(10) Aidonia Bruki

Aidonia changed his tune from 'bad man' lyrics last year and turned his attention to the ladies. He released several hit singles this year and Bruki was the most popular.

Bring back lutenant stitchie days, we want back shabba ranks, ninja man, super cat, buju banton, wayne wonder, peter tosh, burning spear, we want back old school music of dancehall and reggae. It use to be superb.
