Celine Dion has sold more than 220 million albums around the world. The five-time Grammy award-winning artist is one of the most recognised and successful performers in pop music today.
Her unprecedented concert engagement in Las Vegas - five consecutive years of sold-out shows - helped make Celine the highest-grossing touring artist in the world from 2000 to 2010.

Now she's back with new album Loved Me Back To Life, which offered her the chance to work with a team of exceptional producers and songwriters including Ne-Yo, Stevie Wonder, Daniel Merriweather and Babyface. We caught up with Celine for a little chat about music and twerking...
On a scale of one to 10, how happy are you with your new album?
I'm 100% happy. I don't have to do it, I don't feel like I need to prove myself. Also, I don't want people to feel that they're buying the whole same thing again, but I'm proud to have material that I still sing, that people travel to come and still hear me sing.
But this time was not about people just hearing my voice, but my soul as well. With these songs, the voice is so dry, it's like I'm talking! There's no reverb, there's no sound effect; I feel like there was an opportunity given to me, and I had a good time. I'm having my wild one! My wild moment.
How did you find making pop music? You said you didn't want to be 'down with the kids' so how was it?
'The kids were fine! First of all, I have to remember I don't need the money, I don't have to do this for success, I've had it, I felt that instead of climbing their ladder for me, I've descended each one of them, I'm grounded, I have the most amazing reward; I have my husband and my children. I never thought I was going to have children, and I have three magnificent boys. Really, you would write a script like this for a movie and it would be called 'a miracle'.
Nowadays, do you prefer doing Vegas rather than going on tour?
What I really like about Vegas is that it gave me an exhibit for nearly about eight years now. Five years for the first show, and then we went on a world tour and now they've asked me again. I was meant to be there two weeks, two years? I don't even remember!
I'm there eight years now... I don't even remember anymore! What I like about Las Vegas is that we have a very magnificent show; there's a 31-piece orchestra, it's very old Hollywood, from the gowns to the theatre itself. You really feel amazing as a performer.
I would never have raised my children in a place where it would put their lives in jeopardy, you know me maybe well enough to know that I would not pick anything about my business against what would be best for my children. Never, in my whole heart. I would die way before that.
At first it was 200 shows a year, and then it came to be 160 and I was tired out and I didn't feel like I had a life, it was way too much. Now I'm doing 70 shows a year, and so on the other side of the coin I leave the house very late and I come home very early. Touring the world, there's nothing like it, but God, it's tiring! Now I have three children and I don't want to tour and be tired for the rest of the days.

Rihanna, Amy Winehouse, Whitney: these divas are on a par with yourself in terms of fame. But what has kept you safe and sane?
My family. Don't get me wrong, I don't know exactly the details of their families, but family is extremely important, and you also have to have a little bit of self-responsibility. Even though you have your own family, if you die, it's not your family's fault. If they're there and they are trying to tell you "don't do that", you own yourself and you have to be responsible for your own acts.
Fame is not reality; it's easy to love it, it's easy to be addicted to it, it's very dangerous. From day one I have totally refused to be part of it. I am not part of the industry, I'm not part of show business. I don't like it, at all. I love the recording studio, I love when we're sat around a table and we're talking about a new show, about ideas the creativity, that's one of my favourite things. I feel grounded and we vibrate together for the purpose of the music itself.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
I still work with a disc man... A Walkman? Yes. When I arrive in the studio, the producers are like, fascinated, it's like a UFO to them! I have Rihanna right now, and Adele.
I hear you recently died: once in a car crash, once in a plane crash. It must have been quite traumatic for you.
I'm not joking, I died three times. Many years ago, I 'killed myself' in my own garage, I started the car and 'took my own life'. Don't ask me again why I don't want to be part of this industry. My husband is aware of that because he reads everything, he's the manager that's his job.
Sometimes it's freaky because I have to call my family. Somebody on Facebook or someone out there who decided to say that - it's like Mercury, it's around the world. But it doesn't matter what they say, it's the impact that it has on your family, especially on my mum. It's unfortunate, and it makes me stay away from it even more. But I'm glad that I'm not dead!
Do you approve of shows like X Factor as a way of bringing people into the business?
It's the new way. It's like technology, you can't not use it, you have to. It doesn't mean that you don't use a pen and paper anymore, but I'm glad I don't start my career now! I'm done, see ya! Good luck!
What do you think of the reinvention of Miley Cyrus?
What is twerking? Oh yeah! For me it's starting to be an old story now. Way before when people were doing something strange or extravagant, it was the talk of the town forever. By talking about it constantly, that's what they want; we are helping what we are criticising.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's wrong or right. I remember buying the book Sex by Madonna - she was on a bed on stage in those pointy breasts and I was like, Oh! And today, Lady Gaga comes in clubs and she strips - I mean is there anything left anymore to do? I'm glad that I didn't have to, I'm not saying I'm against or for that, but we'll see how far we are going to go.
We're all in the same boat. I worked really hard, but I didn't have to sell my soul. And I'm very glad. You cannot compete with everybody; you have to find a way to compete with yourself. If they need to go that far artistically, then fine. I wish you luck and a healthy life.
Loved Me Back To Life by Celine Dion is released on Monday 11 November in the UK
