Oprah Winfrey has allowed her Maui farm to be photographed for the first time, in the new edition of O, The Oprah Magazine which hits newsstands today.
The media mogul, 59, who is worth $2.8billion, currently owns approximately 780 acres on the Hawaii island, and produce grown on her land is donated locally.
In an accompanying video, she says having space for a farm is a 'full-circle moment because I grew up with a grandmother who was growing things.

Green-thumbed: Oprah Winfrey has allowed her vast Maui farm to be photographed for the first time
'Everything that we ate came from our own little one acre,' she said. 'To be able to have a full circle moment with that, not in Mississippi, but in Maui, is fantastic. It's like ... jewelry that comes from the earth. I love it, just love it.'
The video also sees the star and friend and fitness expert Bob Greene describe how the idea for the farm came about.
'We looked up on this hill and saw all these tiers,' Bob said. 'And both of us just love things that [in unison] come from the ground.'
Oprah continued: 'It felt like we were not using the land to its ultimate potential and purpose and giving back to the people of the land, so right now, we're growing all these vegetables.

Shared perspective: The media mogul and and her friend and fitness expert Bob Greene describe how they were both keen to use the land's rich soil to its full potential

Organic empire: Currently all produce from the farm is donated, but Oprah and Bob say they expect to start selling it at some point in the near future too
'We tested our soil and enriched our soil and we have have some of the richest... I mean our soil is like chocolate around here.'
Bob added that they had noticed a 'disconnect' as 90per cent of produce that is consumed in the Hawaiian islands is actually imported.

'It felt like we were not using the land to its ultimate potential and purpose and giving back to the people of the land'
He said that currently all produce is donated, but they expect to start selling it at some point in the near future too.
Indeed, late last year, it emerged that Oprah had trademarked 'Oprah's Organics,' for bath soaps, sunscreen, massage oils, hair products, as well as organic salad dressings, frozen vegetables, soups, beverages and snack dips.
A representative for Ms Winfrey toldThe New York Post at the time: 'The trademarks were filed for Oprahís farm on Maui to enable the farm to grow and distribute produce on Maui and throughout the Hawaiian Islands.'
